Azzurra grew up surrounded by Italian musicians and culinary personalities. Born in Melbourne and raised as an Italian, Calabrese, she was introduced to the music world through her dad who was the lead singer and guitarist of an Italian band and also ran a successful Italian restaurant.

She watched her dad play many Italian and charity events, and gained connections with vocal coaches.

Through listening to old tapes and C.Ds in the house of the R&B, Motown, Rock and Roll, Jazz and Soul greats she fell in love with music and felt inspired to be a vocalist.

Azzurra began dance classes and singing lessons and was completely taken by the stage. She would study the greats and try to mimic dance moves, vocal range and musicianship. Azzurra was compelled to be a performer and loved how music could inspire and transform a person's feelings or beliefs.

By high school she joined the school orchestra and the school rock band by then she could play guitar, synth and clarinet.

She started performing with live bands as the lead vocalist. Her dance also became more recognised in 2009 as she received a half scholarship to travel to Los Angeles and study full time dance for a month with world renown dancers in the US.

After that she began to study full time dance in Melbourne at Todd Patrick Performing Arts School, which was a combination of all styles of dance and contemporary vocal training. While training she performed in many venues, competitions and shows including Crown palladium, Xfactor, Melbourne Fashion Week, auditioned for many musicals and performed at numerous venues around Melbourne. During that time she worked at her family's restaurant, would teach singing and dance classes for kids after school and often made performance nights at the restaurant for the customers.
